Talks for Schools

If we can visit your school we can provide a talk and a display of relevant memorabilia for the children to see, lots of games and activities and plenty of time for questions.  However, if this is not possible we are happy to give our talk via Zoom, including activities and question time.

Wartime Children

The talk lasts 1 hour and is in the form of a PowerPoint presentation with hundreds of original photographs and is in an interesting and amusing format. There is ample time for questions.

This talk covers the following topics:

When WW2 was
What life was like
What children wore
Gas masks
Fun, games and toys
Food rationing
Dig for Victory
National Service
Children's groups (Wolf Cubs, Brownies, Scouts, Guides, other groups)

The activities are an air-raid practice (with loud bangs), a recycling game and a memory game (both original WW2 games).  More activities can be arranged for face to face talks.

A Wartime Christmas

This is a half hour follow-on presentation to the above talk covering decorations, cards, presents, food, shopping and parties.  Templates for making decorations and presents can be provided and if we can do this real-time (rather than Zoom) we can do craft sessions with the children.
