Sadly many events are cancelling this year because of the Russia/Ukrainian war, many of them railway event. It has caused much consternation amongst 1940s re-enactors, many of whom, while feeling a great sympathy for the Ukrainian people, think that it is wrong to cancel 40s events which commemorates the brave people who fought valiantly, our forces, allies and on the Home Front.
After much deliberation and discussion with the good folk at the Cholsey and Wallingford railway we have decided that Wallingford at War should go ahead this year (1st and 2nd October), but has been re-branded as Wallingford, Back to the Forties. Plans are well under way and we already have over 70 re-enactors registered, caterers and entertainers booked and publicity spreading the word, so it has the makings of another very successful event and we are delighted to be part of the organising team.
